Basic Picante Sauce

Homemade Picante Sauce Recipe

Picante Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 large White Onion
  • 1 fresh Jalapeno Pepper or 1/4 Cup canned Jalapeno
  • 6 Tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 6 medium Tomatoes
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh, crush cilantro or 1 teaspoon dried Cilantro
  • 1/4 Teaspoon sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt

Cooking Directions:

  1. Take onion and chopped into 1/4 inch pieces.
  2. Take tomatoes and chop into 1/4 inch pieces.
  3. Remove stem from jalapeno and chopped finely.
  4. In a pan preheat the oil to medium temperature.
  5. Add onion and sauté for 10 minutes or until tender but not brown.
  6. Add tomatoes, jalapeno, cilantro, sugar and salt.
  7. Turn heat from medium to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. For less spicy sauce, use jalapeno as a whole and remove it after simmering the mixture.
